T12 Lamps – Technological Leadership Demands Commitment to Research & Development

In the early 1990s, it became apparent that Light Sources needed another manufacturing plant to serve the needs of customers globally. It was in 1993 that LightTech originated. In order to continue to serve the markets with the best quality products, LightTech hired engineers who were unparalleled in the industry.  This engineering group designed lamp lines to be able to change lengths and diameters very quickly.  LightTech’s meteoric rise was due largely to a rapid expansion of its production capacity. Within eight years, the total area of production facilities in Hungary grew from 500 to 14,000 square meters (5,400 to 150,700 square feet).

Over the same period, the workforce grew to 600 including the machinery building and glass work plants to ensure end-to-end product quality. Our European base is situated in Dunakeszi, Hungary. The location includes all major operations – sales, general and administrative functions, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution. Our Hungarian facility consists of four large buildings including offices, production halls and the glass factory (20 acres / 82,000 m² industrial lands).

Stringent controls have enabled continuous improvements in quality. In 2001, LightTech created one of the most advanced glass works in Europe. A vertically integrated approach, including in-house glass manufacture, helps to eliminate potential supply chain problems and quality issues. And thanks to a continuous improvement in production methods, a commitment to quality and exceptional customer service, the young company soon rose to become leader in the European tanning lamp market.
