What is an Amalgam UV Lamp?
Amalgam UV lamps are capable of producing up to three times the UVC output of a standard lamp of the same length without sacrificing efficiency or lamp life. When compared to standard or high output germicidal lamps, an amalgam lamp’s superior output offers the advantage of allowing system designers to decrease the amount of lamps needed without diminishing performance. This in turn reduces both capital and maintenance costs over the lifetime of the system. In addition all of LightTech and LightSources’ amalgam lamps are treated with LongLife+™, a special proprietary coating that gives our lamps an operating life of up to 16,000 hours while maintaining an end-of-life UVC output of 85%.
Features and Benefits of our Amalgam UV Lamps
We are experts at designing, engineering and manufacturing high-quality spot amalgam and pellet amalgam lamps in a wide range of standard and custom configurations. While our amalgam UV lamps typically operate with a consistent UVC output over broad water or air temperature ranges between 4 – 40 ° C, we offer fully customized lamps that can be designed for even higher temperature applications.
LightSources and LightTech’s proprietary and patented pellet amalgam UV technology allows our lamps to operate with greater efficiency under power dimming conditions. The innovative technology produces lamps with UVC outputs at 80% – 50% dimming (may require additional filament heating) range as compared to spot amalgam technology. In addition our low pressure pellet amalgam lamps can be universally mounted with equal efficiency in horizontal, vertical or diagonal orientations and reliably operate in more extreme ambient environments.
