The combined strengths of LightSources in the U.S. and LightTech in Europe & Asia make our companies global leaders in the germicidal lamp industry. We offer OEMs safe, simple, and cost-effective UV germicidal solutions for air, surface and water disinfection. Our surface UV germicidal products include high-tech UV curing bulbs. We offer low pressure and medium pressure UV curing bulbs as well as amalgam lamps that are used in a variety of industrial applications and represent a growing field. As UV curing bulbs offer low maintenance costs and produce no hazardous byproducts, many industries are making the change from heat-cured inks to the safer alternative of UV-cured inks.
UV Curing Bulbs: Highly Efficient, Effective Solutions
In the past only high pressure UV curing was available, but now highly efficient low pressure UV curing bulbs that use a wavelength of 254nm are commonly used world-wide. Operating on less power than medium pressure lamps, they are an ideal solution for applications that require dimming. The UV bulbs are used in applications for curing adhesives and resins, and inks in high-quality magazines and newspapers.
Both low pressure UV curing bulbs and amalgam lamps produce UVC, but amalgam lamps are efficient for drying inks and adhesives that use a cationic base. They offer an output of 300 to 1200 watts (low pressure UV curing lamps have an output of 150 watts), of which one-third is usable UVC energy. By using amalgam lamps, OEMs have the ability to downsize their system while still maintaining the required efficiency for UV curing.
Our highly efficient medium pressure UV curing bulbs use UVA light in the wavelength range of 367nm to 400nm. They produce high currents for a greater UV output and are commonly used in industries that require high-speed press runs, and where a higher UV light intensity is needed due to shorter exposure times.
